An emerging discord boredom game (as of 2025-ish) has been the creation of a channel or thread, become where users simply count the next number in the series, such as one user saying 1, the next one saying 2, etc, with no time limit, just whenever you see it, even months later as the case may be.
Some bots are even showing up on the scene, which keep track of which one is the proper number in succession. This is a list of threads I have seen which are akin to this, but different number styles or subjects to reply incrementally. I will denote which ones I personally invented.
Due to the nature of not all of these being numerical, the term “chaining” has also emerged, which means loosely, “the next response follows an established pattern” whether the chaining rule simply be “only chain :3” so that everyone only types out :3 each time, or whether the rule is “add +10 to the previous number” etc.
I'll make a distinction between definitively counting vs chaining, in case this list gets very long.

Before I ever realized chaining threads existed, I invented a little game that reached decent success after successfully suggesting to numerous discords: each person in the thread is only allowed to post one GIF (at a time; no doubling up), which has a vague connection to the previous GIF – using discord's in-built GIF selection system.
If the prior GIF were Homer Simpson backing into the shrub, the next one could be as tenuously-connected as merely just having something green in it. Here's a table of possibilities:

All of the above are only the possibilities for the GIF immediately following the Simpson shrub GIF. The GIF following that, will naturally have a completely new set of possibilities as correspond to that new GIF only, not as related to a previous GIF.
What the actual connection between GIFs is never revealed or discussed, and the next postings continue with these restrictions in mind.
