Your name is Watchman Loviglio, and you operate a teleport beacon with its own solar orbit between Venus and Earth. Your beacon is one in a series of a quad-ring grid that receives teleporter signals from one beacon to the next, so someone scanned and broadcasted from one planet can arrive safely on the other side instead of making the time-consuming journey by spacecraft.

Your job is to make sure everything remains operational by running systems diagnostics, checking and re-checking delicate instruments, and ensuring your solar orbit is stable.

You are currently on mouth four of your six-month-long shift aboard Beacon 83, and while doing your daily maintenance checklist, a light beeps that a throughput manifold may be out of alignment. You're unsure how this could have happened. Do you:

  • Check it out yourself immediately

  • Run other tests first
